The 2009 Mass Transit Modelers Convention -
PHOTOS
Another successful convention has come and gone! After months of preparation,
planning, and coordinating, the day just flew by. We had a nice turn out, inspite of the gloomy weather; and we had a
sellout of sales tables! There were eight operating layouts, representing O, HO, and N scales. The East Penn Traction
Club, L.I. Traction Society, and the NYC Model Transit Association's modules were once again combined to make a massive
O scale trolley and rapid transit layout! Thanks to all that participated!
On behalf of the NYC Model Transit Association, I would like to thank all the members of the Shore Line
Trolley Museum for volunteering their time to man the admission tables and help set up and break down the layouts. Special
thanks to Don Golden for coordinating the sales tables and seeing to it that the dealers were all happy with their space.
Our Model Contest was once again coordinated and moderated by Tony Tieuli. He volunteers his time and efforts to seeing
that the contest is fair and runs smoothly - Thank you Tony!
I have received many great photos taken of the convention. Thank you for your contributions.

From The Top!
New To The Show!
Carsten's Publications produced this compact, and very well detailed O scale trolley layout inside a scaled down Birney Trolley. "Railroad Model Craftsman" Magazine featured an article on how they built the layout, in the May 2009 issue. Truely a great example of how much detail and action that can be packed into a small space.
Motor Coach Display
Once again, our Restored Bus Display was well reprsented. Thanks to Joe Saitta for bringing his 1970 Mid Island, NY Flxible transit bus 699. The NJ Transportation Heritage members Joe Mahawash and Tom O'Kane brought 2 1968 Public Service buses, Z603 and Z546. There was a special surprise when a beautiful M-15 Eagle pulled into the parking lot to join the display! Thanks to Sirremus Robinson for bringing his pride and joy to the show!
The Model Contest
The Best Model in the judged contest was awarded to an HO model of a British Columbia Electric Railway Interurban car built by Bob Dietrich of Downingtown, PA. The car was super-detailed inside and out, rare in HO models. The Best Model in the popular contest was awarded to Nate Gerstein of Monroe, NJ, for his Forney locomotive and Manhattan elevated coaches. Honorable Mention was given to a Connecticut Company shear plow built by Charles Pitts of Norwood, MA, and to Ralph Krueger of Westport, CT, for his Lake Shore Electric Motor flat. - Contest moderator Tony Tieuli.
